Energy Minimization in City Electric Vehicle using Optimized Multi-Speed Transmission

This article discusses a set of solutions for creating city electric car with low-voltage power supply system DC motor. Based on constructed vehicle low voltage drive system, simulation model was prepared and verified. An energy flow analysis performed, the developed described. Then, optimization method focused minimizing consumption in driving cycles under consideration. To mirror actual road conditions as much possible, real traffic cycle registered over an route used process optimization, cycle’s velocity profile recording slope angle program. Established optimality quantitative dependence design control parameters gearbox operational characteristics vehicle, which allowed determination parametric functional limitations during optimization. As result employing described drivetrain parameters, 40% reduction vehicle’s test obtained.
